I have to commend Lucky Belly! This place hits the mark on all things fusion!! Now this place knows dumplings! I believe they are known for their ramen, but with all the great dumplings on offer it was a no brainer on what to order.
The shrimp gyoza was placed on top of an edamame avocado puree and ponzu. This was delicious and where have dumplings and avocado been served together before? What a great combination. The oxtail dumplings were juicy and moist and very pleasing on the eye. But what I love most about Lucky Belly, is that they nail the dumpling wrappers! I highly recommend on ordering the lobster shu mai, deliciously moist with lots of flavour. To be honest we probably ordered too much for 2 people. But they also alter the amount served dependant on diners. The pork bao bun was very close to my grandmas one, keeping with traditional texture. I can’t rave anymore on how great Lucky Belly is, and would recommend it to anyone visiting Hawaii. The service was a tad slow with a large gap between dumplings being served, which we thought maybe the rest of our order had been missed. Although thats just me being picky.
Highly recommend! Great fusion with amazing food and its chic and industrial interior.
