London: Flotsam & Jetsam

Flotsam and Jetsam is a brand new antipodean style cafe in Wandsworth. If you are looking for all day brunch this is the place you want to eat at. This cafe is owned and ran by a kiwi family, bringing you both home made counter food and treats from crosstown doughnuts, or a menu of brunch items which can change on a daily basis. The cafe is busy and the staff are still finding their feet so give them some slack.

Its fair to say that the smashed avocado is the popular menu item, with three of us ordering it. However I swapped my poached egg for roasted mushrooms. The portion size won’t leave you feeling hungry. Perfectly seasoned and the pickled chilli, lime and mint just gives lifts the flavours. The rest of the menu was quite egg orientated but there are a great selection of sides to opt for. If you tend to choose Eggs Benedict, then F&J will spoil you with a coffee hollandaise sauce, – something I have yet to come across.

The interior is chic, warm and trendy. It was a great first impression, and there is a lot of potential for the near future. If you are kiwi missing home, this cafe will give you your home comfort that you are seeking.

Very cool to stumble across this when I checked out your blog! Hana who owns the cafe is a friend from school and while I wish i could just pop to London to visit, your review taking me through the experience as if I was there is close enough for now 🙂 Thanks Courtney!
