Auckland: The Culpeper

The Culpeper, headed by hottie, MKR NZ Judge Gareth Stewart and under the Nourish Group Family, a restaurant I had been meaning to try after feeding my face with a pork belly corn dog at Street Eats. If that doesn’t excite you then I don’t know what will!

Tucked down the aisle of Princes Wharf, it has a stunning view of the water on a bright sunny day when you are dining outside. It doesn’t even matter it’s winter, they will heat you up with outdoor heaters so you can pretend its summer ;).

Lounging over the weekend for a late weekend lunch we dined with a jug of sangria and the largest bbq sandwiches one will find in the area. With our food arriving to the table my stomach was doing happy summersaults.

The Cubano

There really isn’t much to complain about the food served. The Smoked Brisket sandwich was stuffed with a heavy 200g of meat. It was perfectly smoked and tearing smoothly apart. The Pastrami Stack – a more modern upgrade on the classic Reuben Sandwich. Again perfectly toasted bread, a balanced amount of mustard with a chunk of pastrami for the hungry caveman meat lover. All dishes are served with pickles and curly fries, although a suggestion could be to serve with aioli and ketchup – which we had to ask for. Who eats chips with no sauce?!

Smoked Brisket Montreal

Food and bevies were served efficiently and hot. I wouldn’t expect anything less at the quiet time we ate. If you are super hungry and craving comfort food, The Culpeper should be your next foodie destination!
