Cafes have nowhere to hide when serving brunch. Meals are your simple needs and for the first meal of the day when people are starving or worse hungover, brunch is there to fulfil that void.
Recently moving closer to the city chic apartment life, I am trying to devour myself into my new locals i.e city cafes, bars and restaurants. No more excuses on being too lazy to drive and park in the city. Ok so number 1 on my city eating comes Chuffed Cafe located on High Street.
Chuffed has been on the dining list for quite some time as they bring their own home made crumpets and twists on your classic brunch favourites. As all knows you eat with your eyes, Chuffed can tick that box, presentation is mouth watering.
The crumpets, are an old favourite and bringing your own on the menu is a great idea. A few downers, the crumpets were slightly under cooked and missed that airy texture you generally have. On the plus the flavour combo was on point but could make a real difference with some whipped goats cheese and something textural to lift its game. The mushrooms, my normal go to at most cafes. I thought the cashew puree what a great idea but there just needed to be more, and as Manu says “Wheres the sauce?”. I can’t say the mushrooms weren’t cooked well – it just needed more.
I want to love Chuffed, the seating is funky and the service is great but at this stage like will have to do.
